Long ago, there lived farmer. He had a very beautiful daughter and he wanted to give her a better life than he had. So, one day while delivering his goods to the king’s market he noticed the king walking through the market. The farmer then began to tell those around him about how his beautiful daughter was able to spin straw into gold. Making sure to talk loud enough for the king to hear, the farmer told everyone how one day soon, he would no longer need to grow his crops because of her gift. The king over heard the farmers boasts and approached him and said that if it was indeed true that the daughter could spin straw into gold he would marry her to his son. That night, the king sent for the farmers daughter and brought her to the castle and locked her in a room filled with straw. He said to spin all the straw in the room into gold by morning and if she did, so he would marry her to his son the prince. Long ago when pigs when animals spoke as men do, there were three little pigs who lived with their mother. She raised them for many years, teaching them to be poets. The oldest brother was the wisest of the three and even often spoke in rhyme, just to practice his poetry. He spent his days reading books on different animals learning more about them. Like the monkeys that chew tobacco. When the pigs were ready to move out, they left their mother and went their separate ways. Seeking to build their new homes the pigs each gathered the materials they wanted to use. The first pig built his home out of straw he got from a farmer. While building his home a hungry wolf spotted him and decided to eat him. Once the little piggy finished his home the wolf approached him. He told the pig to come out and play or he’d blow the house down and eat him up. The pig responded by calling him a poodle. A long time ago, mankind and animals were able to communicate to one another. It was understood that hunters would perform rituals after a hunt to honor the animals sacrifice and that no life shall be taken without the intent to eat. Man needlessly killing an animal was a very serious offense to both men and animals. One day in a Cherokee village, a hunters wife was gathering plants from nearby the nearby forest. Suddenly, she began to hear a hissing sound as well as a slight rattle. Scared the sudden noise she reached for a sharp stick. As the rattling intensified she moved some brushes aside and saw a yellow rattlesnake coiled as if ready to attack. Frightened, the wife stabbed the snake with her stick killing it. Week 9 Story: The Fox of Norman

Many people don't know this. It's certainly not something that is advertised to the public. But there is an Ancient Myth here in Norman, Oklahoma. It is believed that this land was once home to Fox spirits. The foxes came in different colors such as red, white, and silver. In fact, legend states that the silver foxes were the most mischievous and intelligent of the three because it learned how to speak like a human. Using this ability they would often play tricks on any passer byes. Whenever someone, would walk along their pathway they would often call out "Hey You!". As the passer by looks around and sees no source of the voice, he would turn back around and then the foxes would jump out of the bushes and scare the traveler causing him to run away. Long Ago in London, there was a Cannibal Goblin who would take the form of a handsome man in order to lure women to him to be devoured. He always hunted near the same road, Adachigahara  where prostitutes would often solicit themselves and even lived near by. Everyone knew of the legends of the Goblin, though many chose to write it off as a myth. One day there was a young Nun who many considered to be beautiful. She was visiting different churches in the area. She wished to travel to all nearby churches on foot before making the pilgrimage to The Vatican. After staying later than she had initially intended at the church, she began to make her way back to the Inn where she was staying. However there were rumors of a serial killer in London who enjoyed cutting up girls and teasing the newspaper with letters. Because she knew this man existed, while disbelieving in the legend of the Goblin, she chose to take the road Adachigahara home since it was a shorter more direct path home. Al...

A long time ago there lived a Sultan, who loved his wife the Sultana more than anything in the world. Every day he gave her beautiful gifts and treasures to show his love for her. However, this love was a lie. For the sultan had learned that his wife did not love him but only used him for his power and wealth. Upon learning this awful truth, the sultan sentenced her to death. But with her death, also went the Sultan’s ability to love. For after this treachery he believed all women to be just as wicked as the Sultana. And although he forgoes love, the Sultan does not want to be lonely at night. For the many years that followed the Sultan would marry a new woman, consummate the marriage and then kill her afterwards. Marriage to the Sultan became synonymous to death to all in the land. Long ago, the earth was created by a supreme being named Nu. Not long after its creation he had a son with many names, most common of which was Ra. Ra was a great and powerful God who went on to create more life on earth and even made children of his own. Ra’s power was great, he was the God of gods and no one could come close to his majesty due to the power he possessed. However, the power was in his true name which he kept in his heart so that none could learn it and therefore could not gain power such as his own. On earth, there was an enchantress named Isis. She was beautiful and powerful, however as she was a human she did not have power close to Ra’s. This was something about herself, that she wanted to change. She wished to be as powerful as the most powerful God and there was only one way to do it. Learn his name. I awoke to a voice from above “Hello my child”. Looking around at everything around me, I could not believe my eyes. I couldn’t believe my EYES!? My eyes? Not only did I have no memory of ever laying eyes on my surroundings, I had no memory of anything in life. “It was as if I had just been….poofed into existence” I thought to myself. “That is because today is the day I hath created you Eve. Once, there was a Cyclops named Polyphemus who lived on an island with all his kin. The cyclops people were peaceful and humble farmers and ranchers. Their way of life was dependent on trade and everyone doing their own tasks and then exchanging the goods. One day a group of humans came to his shores. The cyclops, though towering over the humans in stature, were fearful for the humans brought with them weapons of war. Hiding in the woods, Polyphemus’ two sons saw the men come ashore with plans to raid the villages of any who lived there. Upon learning this, they quietly returned to their father. “Father! Father!” the older one cried out, “there are men on our shores and they bring many weapons” the younger added on. “Men have come to our shore before, they often wish to trade, no fear my sons perhaps they too are peaceful” Polyphemus said to calm his sons. Long ago in ancient Japan, Susanoo, God of the storm of Summer and brother to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu found himself walking along a river bank in. Unexpectedly a chopstick was spotted by him flowing down the river and he wondered to himself who could possibly live this far up the mountain. As he continued his way further up the mountain he found an old man with two women, one in each arm the three holding each other tightly. Intrigued, Susanoo approached them and said to them “Hello there, are you Gods or Mortals”? The old man lifts his head to meet the gaze of the swordsmen that had approached them revealing tears falling down the old man’s face as though he has been crying for days. "Great swordsmen, I am the god Ashinadzuchi , son of the Mountain God, this is my wife Tenadzuchi and our daughter Kushinada-hime (hime is the suffix added onto the name of a princess) the old man said, barely able to get the words out.
